Description
Turnbull Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2022
The wine is just ridiculously good for the money. Lashings of black and blue fruit, creme de cassis, black cherry, freshly crushed black currant, hints of bitter-sweet bakers chocolate, scorched earth, cigar box notes, charred spices. Luxuriously fruited and mouth coating but also vibrant, and fresh with top notch purity and refined tannins.
Critical Acclaim
94 Jeb Dunnuck
The appellation 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a killer value that should be snatched up by readers. Ripe black fruits, roasted herbs, chocolate, and some spicy wood define the bouquet and it s full-bodied, has fine tannins, a glossy, layered texture, and outstanding length. It certainly has a modern edge, but is impeccably made. Enjoy bottles over the coming decade.
92 James Suckling
An attractive nose of blackcurrants, dark cherries, plums and a dash of prunes as well. Full body with creamy tannins and texture. Round and fruity with plenty of blackberry and chocolate in the finish.
92 Wine Advocate
Turnbull has been turning out some terrific wines in recent years, and the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is not only excellent, but it also represents a great value. Hints of cedar and vanilla accent cassis and black cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is plush up front, then turns firmer on the lingering finish.
91 Vinous
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is supple, open-knit and very easy to like. Succulent dark cherry, plum, leather, spice and mocha flesh out nicely in this attractive, easygoing appellation-level Cabernet. It is one of the riper, racier wines in the range and also sees a bit more new oak than the other Cabernets. In this vintage, the percentage of fruit from Amoenus is pretty high.
