The Small Batch Collection No. 2019-02 Shiny Barrel Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey exemplifies this methodology, using barrels from two different production dates sourced from the centermost floors of 3 warehouses – D, E, and J. The term “Shiny Barrel” was coined because back in the day, rackhouse workers would sometimes ‘sample’ a taste of whiskey from aging barrels. Due to their (shall we say) fuller physique, they would remove the dust from these barrels – thus indicating to Noe which barrels had the most premium, tasty juices within.
