Description
1792 High Rye Bourbon is a limited edition Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey crafted from a higher rye mash bill. By law, bourbon must be made using a mash bill of at least 51% corn. Traditionally, bourbons use rye as the secondary grain in the mash bill. The recipe for 1792 High Rye Bourbon uses a much higher percentage of rye as the secondary grain than most bourbons do, creating a robust and full flavor. 1792 High Rye Bourbon was distilled in May of 2008, and aged for a little more than eight years on the second floor of Warehouse K at the historic Barton 1792 Distillery before it was bottled at 94.3 proof. Released in 2016, this limited edition bourbon was awarded Gold Medal at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The nose opens with aromatic notes of butterscotch, light vanilla and orange peel. The palate introduces hints of anise and black pepper, centering around the explosive spiciness of rye that increases but balances out, leading to a remarkably smooth finish. …
