Description
Made from Mourvèdre and Grenache Noir from Cotes Catalanes, sourced from a 4 ha single plot of young vines planted on clay and limestone soils with galets roulés (rounded river rocks) on the Agly terraces. Yields are kept low at 30 hl/ha. Vinified using whole clusters, ambient fermentation, and soft “infusion” rather than extraction methods. Aged 12 months in neutral barrels. Bottled via gravity following the Biodynamic calendar.
Having worked with Mourvèdre in the cellar before, it’s one of my favorite grapes. The wine had a beautiful approachability rarely seen in Southern France and is changing my opinion of Roussillon wines. It boasted a lovely color, great structure, and pretty red fruits intermingled with earthy qualities. -Haley O’Brien
